1-year-old boy and grandmother killed in Allentown shooting identified

A toddler and grandmother who were fatally shot in Allentown, Pa., last week were identified Tuesday by the local coroner.

, were inside a home in the northeast Pennsylvania city when they were shot and killed Friday night, the Allentown Morning Call reported. A 66-year-old man was also wounded in the violence, but he still has not been publicly identified.

No suspects have been arrested or publicly referenced by police, and cops have provided no details about the shooting. But in , the organizers said, “a shooter broke into [Ortiz’s] home” and opened fire.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio ruled both , according to LehighValleyNews.com. Serrano and Ortiz both died from gunshot wounds. They were the 17th and 18th homicide victims in Allentown in 2023.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing homicide investigation, we are not releasing any additional information nor confirming additional details at this time,” was quoted as saying.

Ortiz, Serrano and the 66-year-old man were three of several victims of gunfire in Allentown over the weekend.

In a second, unrelated shooting, a man and a woman were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They have not been identified, but 23-year-old . Cops believe there was another shooter who remains free.

Three men were shot around 2 a.m. Saturday morning in another unconnected incident. The victims also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
